Hi,

I have a nice and repeateable crash to desktop whenever I get too close (around 200-250 units) to the Sensor Array either in B3M4 or B3M5.
I downloaded XWAUpgrade 1.6 around 3 days ago and additionally all crafts that had the "NEW" banner on them, I guess it's either the array itself or some static defenses that are causing the problem.

Just to be sure I tested it on different resolutions (I am _not_ using xwahack to play on anything higher than 1920*1080.) and the issue persists.

I will do a reinstall and / or revert to earlier version for all craft files that are in these missions, just wanted to let you guys know about it.

I played the hell out of this game so many years ago and now it looks as good -and even better- as I remembered it. Of course my failing memory makes it a hundred times prettier than it really was, so you guys did an amazing job!

Thank you for XWAUpgrade, you are definitely making the world a better place and the sleep schedule of so many of us gamers even more chaotic!

best regards,
Roach

Hi Roach. I just tried Battle 3 mission 4.
I get the same result. Within 3.00 distance and it crashed. Not sure what could be causing it but think I can see now..
It's the MINE FIELD that's crashing it, not the Sensor Array. It happens in Skirmish too when Mine Field is selected.
I believe this is an issue with the Hook_Weapon_Color.

I've posted a bug report in the Hooks Forum section. Give Jeremy a short time and he will find the issue and fix it no doubt.
Thanks for bringing the issue to everyone's attention Roach :)

Jeremy help us please, you are our only hope! ;)

Try that now Roach. I was able to get right up to the Sensor Station.
Only copy the Hook files over though and not the Animation.dat file as it's been replaced if you have the new Hyperspace improvements.
If you haven't done yet also update all your Hooks as there's been a number of other bug fixes recently too.

Copying over the hooks worked like a charm, I am now free to clear that minefield!

Fellows, you rock!
Thank you kindly again!

I'm still getting the crash at the sensor array. I have all the latest hooks installed. Played that mission a half a dozen times tonight and it always crashes when the sensor array explodes.

Edit: When I switch back to the original .opt file I get through the mission with no problem.

Hi can you clarify if it's the Comm Relay or the Sensor Array please, and the exact mission?
If it's the Sensor Array what is the version number of the download that you have? v1.0 or v1.1
I have blown both up in Skirmish and no issues. The Comm Relay in the missions involved seems ok too for me.

Type eventvwr in your Windows start menu or search bar.
Go to Windows Logs - Application and look for the read error

You should see something like this with lots of Faulting lines below etc.
Faulting application name: XwingAlliance.exe, version: 2.0.0.2, time stamp: 0x3765a9b7

Select it all and copy it and then paste into this post. That should help.
Thanks a lot

Sorry, I think you are right and I got the two confused. I am crashing on Battle 1 Mission 7. Destroy Imperial Sensor Net. I'm not sure what version of the Sensor Array it is. If you could tell me how to determine this, I will let you know.

Below are three of the logs involving the Sensor Array. I have more if you need them. FYI, I also had crashed with the new Dinari's. I had to change that back to the old version as well. Not sure if that helps.

Look in your XWA\Backup folder. It will have the Readme file of each ship there.
So for example SensorArrayv1.0Readme

I've flown that mission, ok invincible, and I can't recreate that issue at all for me.
Jeremy may come along and see what the error log means.

For now download this.
All it is are my Opts which work ok. The file won't online for long though.

See if that fixes it temporarily.

There has only been one version of the sensor array, it was the first release, there is no other version :?

I'm sorry but you're now beyond my simple help limits now.
It kinda proves that it's not the Opts but something else on your computer setup that's causing it.
Wait for Jeremy to get back online otherwise you may need to use the Backup Restorer and try stuff again.

Can you also test in a simple Skirmish that the same things happen to you please. Use a Missile Boat to destroy with rockets easily.
Also which version of XWA do you have. CD, Steam, GoG etc.
Hope you can fix it soon. :)

Hello,
The crash at offset 0x0019778b means that the game failed to load an OPT texture or a DAT image.

You can try to re-intall the vanilla game with only the updated DDraw, the latest hooks, and only the new Sensor Array.

When the sensor array and Dunari's explode, do they have anything in common or unique to the explosions that load which the old files didn't that could cause this? Those are the only two times this has happened.

Hi

I am having the same problem. I have the latest xwau and latest patch, but this mission is always crashing. Is there a place to locate the fix now as I can't find the link in the suggest thread. Thanks.
