Hi guys,
When updating with update 4, the game does not launch, even when starting it directly from XwingAlliance.exe. Update 1 was no issue. The executable launches then closes without any error message.
Tried everything, reinstalling from a fresh version etc... nothing helps.
Consequently, I cannot play TFTT
Any idea?
Thanks in advance.

Get to a stage where XWA is working without anything of XWAU installed. So a fresh installation basically.
Run the game to make sure if plays.
Then copy the entire folder to a new location and call it something else. XWA Upgrade for example.
Then install the 2020 update to this NEW folder, not the original and check it works. You can make a backup folder copy at this point if needed.
If that does then install Update 4. If that all works great. Keep 1 backup folder copy and then try installing TFTC.
Remember to have Steam etc closed and not use those shortcuts.
Baby steps as they say is easier to troubleshoot sometimes

Mhm, that's a bummer. Without any error indication it'll be hard to figure out. While I doubt that this is the case but could you try this:

There's plenty more options available, so maybe play around with those:go to Windows Security -> App & Browser Control -> Exploit Protection Settings -> Program settings then click "Add program to customize", click "Choose exact file path" and add the path to the XwingAlliance.exe program. Which for me, is D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars X-Wing Alliance\XWingAlliance.exe. Then you override "Data Execution Prevention (DEP)" and set it to "off".

You're the boss! I had to turn DEP completely off, just adding this exception did not cut it, but it worked. Thanks a million. Now I can focus on bringing order to the galaxy...Forceflow wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 4:11 pmMhm, that's a bummer. Without any error indication it'll be hard to figure out. Great to hear it! Glad you got it to work and that my hunch wasn't wrong after all. Will be moving this to Bug Reports now so that it's easier to find
