This exception code suggests it's an issue with Windows' DEP.
You can try this:
You can try this:
You can also set a general exception for the X-Wing alliance.exe here:go to Windows Security -> App & Browser Control -> Exploit Protection Settings -> Program settings then click "Add program to customize", click "Choose exact file path" and add the path to the XwingAlliance.exe program. Which for me, is D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars X-Wing Alliance\XWingAlliance.exe. Then you override "Data Execution Prevention (DEP)" and set it to "off".
DEP settings are here:
Control Panel > System and Security > System > Advanced System Settings > Performance > DEP

I would highly recommend buying a digital version now.
It's a lot more compatible than an old cd copy and less hassle to install etc.
Finding fixes for the CD issues that crop up, especially on older Windows 7 machines it's getting harder all the time. We may have to stop support eventually.
Check out gog.com. XWA is usually pretty cheap

DeviceResources::OnSizeChanged
CreateDxgiSurfaceRenderTarget
No such interface supported
second one:
X wing Alliance

im thinking about it but the thing is that i had to reinstall Win7 couple weeks ago (HDD issues) and Alliance worked just fine after each upgrade with older Win7 installation. Maybe Win installation didnt go as it supposte to?Ace Antilles wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 11:36 amI would highly recommend buying a digital version now.
