[Solved] Not Enough Memory

Hello all,

I'm having an issue that appears similar to issues others have described, but none of the solutions I've tried have resolved the crash to Windows issue I'm having.

I am trying to play on a Surface Pro 8 (16 GB Ram, i7 Chip, but no dedicated GPU). Possibly iffy without the GPU, I know, but I can play both the vanilla XWA and the 2020 XWUA no problem on full settings. I'm trying to play TFTC, but when I install either the XWUA 5.0 or TFTC 1.2, I receive an error message at mission launch that says" Direct3DTexture::Load Not enough memory resources are available to complete this operation."

As noted above, I receive this message once I install XWUA 5 or TFTC. It was suggested in another thread that a possible fix would be to turn down the settings. I tried that and it didn't work. I also tried adding Xwingalliance.exe to the exempt list for windows DEP but that didn't seem to resolve the issue either. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. I know there's a chance this just won't work on my machine, but I'd really like to check out the mod.

Thanks in advance!

Mhm... I am afraid that the integrated GPU is the issue here. There are more advancements that were introduced in XWAU 2020 Upgrade 4 or 5. Since both are needed to be able to play the TFTC I am afraid you are out of luck. You could try to narrow down the issue to see which exact upgrade caused the issue. (The old installers are still available for download) but with an integrated GPU I am afraid there isn't much we can do.

Have you tried without effects, using JeremyaFr's ddraw.dll?
You can configure this in Babu Frik. That version should be much lighter on the GPU...

@m0rgg
That is exactly what I ended up trying late last night and it worked! Sorry I didn’t post immediately. Thank you both so much for the responses and thoughts.
