Decided to try and get clever with the Reticles. (FYI in the manual they are called Reticules)
You can mix and match insides as well as outsides. To a certain degree anyway depending on the image.
I set this one #7 as the A-wing.
But to make the missiles a little different from the XW or YW etc I changed the missile lock on middle to this. I think it works well and looks pretty cool. It's another option out of many!
I also took plain old #1 default and I edited the missile lock on middle to this slightly more interesting look. Then I took the bottom left of #4 and made it the Laser option.
But I merged it with the top right to get this. I'm not sure I can find a perfect option but it's cool to change them around as you feel like it. I think the YT's are the trickiest.
General Trageton and I were looking online and we found this SW sniper scope image which looked cool and has potential.
Could be the basis for a cool future round hud for someone to make.

Hi,
Congratulations to the team for this outstanding work.
Everyone has his/her own preferences but I think #8 for XWing and #11 for Ties are close to the movies. This is only a personnal opinion.
Anyway I would prefer the team imposes a crosshair for the new crafts than just letting the standard crosshair (for all spaceships) we have seen enough after so many years (however I like the improvement made to the standard reticle too which could be used for transport crafts for instance) with the obligation for the player to alter files himself to set the crosshair he wants. Of course having the possibility to use the crosshair the player wants should stay but not all players are willing to create txt files or to alter ini files.
I just think it would be better to have spaceships ready "out of the box" without the need to make "manual changes".
I shall "accomodate" to the choices made by the team since I trust the team for the reticle selection per craft.
I guess the team will deliver a new hud.dat including all reticles in the next game update.
I can only congratulate again the team for this initiative, you really gave a rebirth to this game.

Will every Fighter get a different HUD? I think it looks very good. Especially the aiming optics, remind me of the square crosshairs from Tie Fighter

Hi
"Of course having the possibility to use the crosshair the player wants should stay but not all players are willing to create txt files or to alter ini files".
Honnestly I do not know how to change the reticle so if each craft could already be delivered with a reticle on its own, it would be a dream for me!
I trust the team regarding the reticle choice.
Could we expect "soon" the presence of a unique reticle for each craft ?
You made a fantastic work with this game! Congrats to the team!

My first post here
Ahh. This should be the right place to ask.
With the recent release of TFTC I was hit by a heavy dose of nostalgia, but I was missing the center dot for the reticle.
With some help from Ace Antilles on the TFTC Discord I have managed to add 4 standard reticles with different sized dot to the HUD.DAT and have figured out how tu use them ingame.
Where would be the best place to put these so others missing the dots can get them to?
I intend to ad this as a readme
TFTC TIE Fighter Reticle Dot Readme
Backup the HUD.DAT file in the Resdata folder in your TFTC install folder.
Copy the provided HUD.DAT file into Resdata.
Go to FlightModels folder and backup the ini files, for the crafts you want to change.(I have done it with AssaultGunboat, TieBomber, TieFighter and TieInterceptor)
I have included 4 different dot sizes.
219 The smallest dot
220 The small dot
221 The medium dot
222 The largest dot
Open the ini file. (I would recommend Notepad++ for this)
Change
Reticle_5 = 65
To
Reticle_5 = XXX (XXX being the number of your chosen dot size.)
I prefer 220
If you want the same reticles in the Assault Gunboat change:
Reticle_5 = 205
Reticle_6 = 206
Reticle_7 = 207
Reticle_8 = 208
to
Reticle_5 = XXX
Reticle_6 = 66
Reticle_7 = 165
Reticle_8 = 166
Good luck

Hi Dan. If the files not too big I think the best thing to do is zip and add it as an attachment.DanTDBV wrote: ↑Sun Jul 04, 2021 9:58 pmMy first post here
