On youtube I saw some new and incredible explosion-effects (much more details and fps) but I can´t find a download file for them.

Can you help?

If you check the person who made the video you will find those are not made by the XWAU.
They are another persons mod who has yet to release them
All the XWAU stuff is included in one download and Update.

Hi there,

i have made some new explosion animations and would like to provide it to XWAU as an enhancement of the entire mod, if you like.

Here are some Video samples of it in action:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxAJa1zKS0o

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYsaT5dWuBM

I try to enhance it a bit. But it seems there are some oddities to fight with.

First: there is an initial fire-animation wich has nothing to do with my editings. It is much too large in some occassions. I tried to find this image or animation but couldn't find it. Sure, the animations looks good also with it. But i would like it better if i could change it a little bit.

Second. In some cases, the animation is interupted by a blank picture. It's not that often. I think it has to do with some sort of engine limitation. I played arround with filesizes and animation lengths. But no luck in this regard.

So, if you like my animations, i would provide it as an enhancement to your mod. :)

It is found in this thread, Post by blue max.

It's exactly this animaton i cannot find to edit. Can someone help me to tell where it is stored? I could work further to enhance the animations. Thank you.

@MechDonald: These explosions are procedurally-generated, that's why you won't find them in any external file.

To disable them, go to XWA\Materials and open the files dat-2000.mat through dat-2006.mat and set:

ExplosionBlendMode = 0

in all of them.

Here is my third attempt, now without procedurally generated init-fire-effect. I think it's better, more movie-like.

@XWAU-Team

If you like these animations, i would like to see these in your Upgrade Project as an official addition. Just let me know. Thank you! :)

@MechDonald You did an extraordinary job with your explosions. We would like to take a closer look at them. Please contact the XWAU team members using private message and to send us the preliminary files. I will be temporarily offline for a few weeks, so better contact @Forceflow, @Ace Antilles, @Vince T @blue_max
Thank you!

Thank you for responding!

I'll do so and contact them via PM. /edit: done. :)

Next step is to enhance the final starship-explosion. The current one is quite nice. But maybe i can make it a little bit more detailed and longer lasting to disguise the appearence of these large debris.

Looks very nice. Maybe sometime you could do a small comparison video between yours and the current XWAU versions?
Keep up the good work :)

Hey,

i deleted the short vids and replaced idt with a comparison video showcasing the differences of the current standard explosions and the new ones i made. I hope that will help a little to notice the differences.

Thanks. I work on the standard-explosions a little bit further to make them a bit more movie-like.

A small update to the explosion effects. I added an initial flash frame to give them a slightly dazzling effect.
