Hey guys, I'm pretty much back in action, safe for a small bit of the wound that takes a little longer to heal but doesn't affect my daily life.

That said, progress on the ISD has resumed and it's coming along nicely.
In addition to this, our two resident geniusses @blue_max and @JeremyaFr have created a new feature which, in combination with my new modular engine works wonders.

If an engine glow has its own texture, it is now possible to hide/show this texture along with the corresponding glow effect based on the ship's Throttle and/or speed. It works like this:
So for example if certain engines are only to be lit up above a certain throttle or speed threshold, you can totally do that.

Here's a small demo how this could look :)
https://youtu.be/m-MgqoxKUss

In this demo scene we have a star destroyer sitting there at 0% throttle with all its thrusters off. As more star destroyers jump in, they all fire up their main thruster and start cruising forward at 50% throttle. As the last ship of the fleet arrives, they all go full throttle and a custom speed way above their regular top speed, at which point their booster engines trigger.

That's wonderful. I've always thought it a little odd for ships to show lit engines while they're not moving.

If I destroy the 3 large engines, is the ISD still going to move while the boosters are not lit? Currently all 7 engines need to be destroyed for an ISD to be stopped from moving.

Well from a balance point of view we should diverge from the original as little as possible, but since my original plan hat been to suppress the booster engine glow for most ISD-1 variants, I‘m guessing there‘s little harm in limiting it to the three main engines.

This would be a great feature for missile boats and SLAM.

In XWAOptEditor, if you select the engine meshes to just Type1 and Type2 destructible type meshes, they will disappear after being destroyed just like the round Shield Generators. Not sure if that slows down the model or makes it stop when all are destroyed. But If you set any engine mesh to type 1, 2 And 3, after heavy damage the meshes won't destroy but the engine glow will disappear and would be replaced with generic damage image and the ship will slow down to halt eventually after all engine meshes are damaged. Each mesh is a certain percentage of throttle. So perhaps 7 / 100 = x % decrease per engine mesh damaged from lasers/warheads. Optech tool gives it a different names like MoveLine/Blowup2 or some odd nomenclature like that.

That's really cool, Vince.

Also, glad you're on the mend.

Edit: Will the thrusters all light up for hyperdrive?

I wonder if it would break the game to speed up the turbolaser bolts and lower the corvettes rate of fire to more closely match the same scene in the film.

Corvettes are a beast in this game, not only the CR90‘s. I remember testing one of my custom designs a while back, which I considered „moderately armed“. Turned ot, 6 of those could butcher an ISD2 in half a minute

But then it is only downloadable with the 2023 packet? Or can I already download it separately?

It's currently not available as a single download and will most likely not be available until the XWAI 2023 patch is done. Unfortunately I cannot give you an estimate for when that one will be available other than 'it's going to be a while'
