- Im using a 1660 with a ryzen 3 3200g, and im sure the integrated graphics aren't an issue with this.
- I've reinstalled the game twice now and looked for my issue everywhere but couldn't find it.
The issue being that my headset just won't update any frames from the game it seems. Though it does update whenever I press my windows key(basically going in and out of the game window).
Here is a video of it in action:

Have you tried actually flying a mission? Does your Quest 2 work there?
Have you checked that the game is using your (nVidia) 1660? (Press ESC --> Video Options --> Check the name of the video card)

I have flown, with a joystick too, just not in VR. I've just reinstalled multiple times so I didn't bother setting up my profile every time. And yes the game uses my 1660 by default.

Please, try flying in VR mode. There are some areas of the game that don't support SteamVR very well yet (like the cinematics: they only show on your monitor), this might be one of those. The Concourse and regular missions should work fine, though.

im sorry what I meant is that I couldn't fly in vr because of my issue, the frames aren't updating onto my headset for some reason. I've played many vr games and this is the only one that doesn't work for some reason. to further explain it I went in single player mode, on my monitor everything seemed to be working but in my headset it wasn't updating at all. But if I were to go in and out of the window via windows key it would update a frame everytime I did so. im sorry if none of this info helps.

Probably no other games have a +20 year old engine hacked to the max to support VR
Can you try with Link/Airlink, at least to isolate the issue to ALVR?

it did surprise me that this game could even support vr.
I tried oculus link and it got further. Singleplayer loads on my desktop but constantly flashes the loading screen on my headset.

You mean the SteamVR "waiting" screen that appears when an application is frozen?
Or the game loading screen? The latter is known to "flicker" a lot in VR.

There are several places where this game won't update the screen. If there's no screen update, there's nothing to be sent to the VR headset, so SteamVR defaults to displaying the "waiting" screen or something similar. This is a known issue. If you see "Waiting", just keep operating the game from the display on your monitor.
OK, let's try this: open the game in VR mode and load one mission. Once you start flying, put on your headset and tell us if that works please.

okay I loaded the first mission and you were right, I have to put on the headset after it loads into it. but when I pressed enter to launch/to start flying the game froze again. And if I try doing the same thing for launch it still freezes.blue_max wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 8:04 pmThere are several places where this game won't update the screen. This sounds like a new problem. Sorry, I don't have that headset, so I'm not sure what to suggest. Maybe someone else in this forum with your same headset might be able to help.
