Hi Ace,
yes, you can share and put in to the installer.
Don't forget that expire within 6-7 days.

Wow. These are incredible. Very impressive work.
I'm really curious as to how you were able to get everything so detailed. I know very little of the techniques of upscaling, but I know enough to know it isn't easy.

I had a quick look, really impressive work considering how low resolution the originals are

I have used: Topaz Video Enhance.
Unfortunatlenly is very very slow ... consider that need about 1 or 1/2 second to process a single frame.
In this case the cutscene are short, but a movie that have 24 FPS need about 24 second to process one second (2 hour, need 24 x 2 = 48 hour) if you have a very high end GPU you can do it in about 10/12 hours.

Hello marcop000
Great looking videos
Could I ask you a question please, reading about Topaz Video Enhance it saves as an MP4 file, could I ask what you used to convert the file to an AVI please?
thank you

Your question is right.Alpha_0-0-0 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 9:24 amHello marcop000

First I use Topaz Video Enhance to covert the cutscene in MP4.
Unfortunatenly XWA seem have some problem with mp4 movie so for this reason I have convert mp4 to avi with this command:
//
ffmpeg.exe -i (cutscene).mp4 -c copy (cutscene).avi
//
so this not re-encode but copy the some codec, and the avi file size match with mp4 size.
After this, I have compare A/B the mp4 and avi files, and I don't notify any difference as I expected, becouse theorically is a copy A to B.

They are really excellent quality. XWAU will support MP4 files now but if they are avi at MP4 reduced file size that probably makes things easier anyway.marcop000 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 11:45 amYour question is right.

While they aren't as essential would you consider trying converting the other files in the Movie section when you get time?
Briefroom, Ceremony, Datapad, Dpclose, Marko, Pod, Techroom
I'm working on my site slowly so will be able to host them there properly asap. Unless they get used in the XWA Upgrade!

Hi Ace,
I don't have converted these files becouse are mixed with 640x480 game menu images.
The size (and quality) of avi and mp4 are the some as attached.
The result is when the game load the cutscene like Datapad for examplke, there is a delay and short blank screen becouse the monitor change the resultion from 640x480 and this gap is very evident.
To be honest I have take in consideration to upscale all game menu image, this can improve the game from a old 640x480 menu to modern game 1920x1080.
The problem is that all mouse pointer (click and move) are calibrated to low resolution image, if someone have the skill to adapt these coordinates to 1920, there is no reason to not upscale all.
From my side I can upscale all to Full HD, but we need to decide what is better upscale and what no.

Sadly right now we can't make images like the concourse etc bigger than 640x480.
They aspect ratio can be stretched out but then it doesn't look great.

You are right but there is an alternative.
If you see the resolution of cutscene you see somethink like 2560x1600 or similar becouse I have multiply the size of cuscene x 4 without sctrech and without change the aspect ratio.
The result is what you see.
A similar think can be done for all menu image (multiply all for a constant factor 4).
But there is the problem of mouse coordinates that need to multiple for 4.

That's gone a little over my head, sorry. I know sometimes what should be simple in XWA never is!marcop000 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 2:52 pmYou are right but there is an alternative.

These are beautiful!
Are they usable in game as is? All I see in the "Movies" folder is .snm files.

Add them to the folder and the game should take over.Darth_Binks wrote: ↑Sat Jun 27, 2020 12:11 amThese are beautiful!

You should make sure you have this file in your XWA folder too.

This is fantastic! Thanks so much for taking your time to create these. These help bring the game to another level.
Should these be added to the main Download page and mentioned in the News section?

Sorry but marcop000 is not a member of the XWAU team.
The files will get the credit these deserve in due course but he's kindly released them to all Forum users here

It's a shame the files uploaded have a half life! All the comments makes this sound like a worthy addition to XWAU playthroughs. Anyone have a local copy they'd be willing to share? Perhaps we can find some place to host marcops' files as an unofficial option?

These upscales look great (downloadable here: https://www.xwingoutpost.com/). What would be great if we could have frame rate interpolation for those movies, changing the frame rate from 15 to 60 fps.
I tried with this tool: https://nmkd.itch.io/flowframes
However my GTX 980 seems to be too slow. A recent NVIDIA card should be used. Maybe someone can do it.

Ah ok, I wasn't aware of that. I also did a quick test with https://www.svp-team.com/. At first glance, the interpolated intro video looked fine to me, but I didn't do an in-depth analysis.
However the tool is not free of charge and adds watermarks in the 30-day trial version.
