Hi
I'm following the tutorial to install onto the Steam Version.
XWAU2020.exe installs fine
The next file the update v5.0 keeps crashing on part 2 with this error.
Any ideas? Much appreciated

Hello,
There are known issues between Steam and the MODs.
I recommand to reinstall the vanilla game.
The first step is to run the game to verify that it works fine.
Then close Steam, and make a copy of the XWA directory to a directory which is not protected by the UAC.
Then install the MOD into this new directory.
Then launch the game from Alliance.exe or the created shortcut in the Desktop. Don't launch the game from Steam.

Thanks for the quick response.
Can you give an example of a directory not protected by the UAC or how I make one?
I tried it step by step into a different directory but this time I got the same error on installing XWAU2020 now.

It can be any directory not in "C:\Program Files (x86)\" and not in the Steam directory.

No good.
Still the same issue and same error. Tested the clean install worked fine. Copied to a different directory outside of ProgramFiles, Run the MegaPatch and that error more or less happens straight away now. Tried fresh again, re-downloaded the mods and patches, again same issue, same error. I'll buy it on GOG and try that see if that makes a difference.
I only heard about the mod yesterday, came up on my google feed and in honest truth I've never played XWA but was always a big fan of the original X-Wing and Tie Fighter games on my 486 and when i saw the ttfc mod was available I knew I had it in my Steam library from a bundle I'd got years ago........

[solved]
Right I bought the GOG version. Installed vanilla, tested, worked fine. Copied to a new directory, opened megapath.exe and again same error appeared.
About to give up and something said try one more thing. My games are all installed to my D:\ drive so uninstalled/re-installed vanilla again. Tested, works.
Copied to a new directory on my C:\ drive instead. Copied the patch.exes to the same directory..........voila.....it works.
