Thanks for bring great patch as always. However sadly I have serious performance issue after install 6.0.1 . I mostly tested B7M2 (The Battle of Endor) and in 6.0.0 Performance in game was mostly stable at 40fps with RT hard shadow but after 6.0.1 same scene dropped to 15fps. Even completely remove special effect and roll back to ddraw didn't improve fps. I did complete reinstall to confirm 6.0.0 was fine and right after install 6.0.1 performance issue reappear. Also after 6.0.1 patch ISD(don't know which one but I guess ISD2) have strange green and purple billboard on it's hull. Tested PC on Windows 11 Ryzen 7840U CPU with Radeon 780M iGPU (GPD Win Mini).

It appears there has been a mix-up of ini files in update 6. I didn't notice it as I was already using my new versions

For a quick fix please follow these instructions:

1) Go into your Game directory and then into the \Flightmodels\ folder
2) Locate the file ImperialStarDestroyer2.ini and open it with any text editor, such as NotePad or NotePad++.
3) Locate the section "[ObjectProfiles]" and look for the Default-entry. If the nubmer behind it is 24, change it to 24,
3b) If there is no [ObjectProfiles] section, add it with following lines

Code: Select all

[ObjectProfiles]
Default = 24
FPSFriendly = 2, 3, 5, 24, 46
ErrantVenture = 21, 22, 27, 29, 31, 33, 35, 37, 39, 41, 43, 45

I think I found culprit hook that cause my FPS drop. I did some test with old hooks in backup folder by replacing 6.0.0 hooks with 6.0.1 hooks one by one and when I replace "Hook_Mission_Tie.dll" from 6.0.1 framerate suddenly cut halved. Framerate return back to usual 40fps when I replace it to 6.0.0 again. Other hooks that updated in 6.0.1 not cause any framerate drop issue.

Greetings all.
There was a slight issue with a file in the current bug fix, ironically.
In particular the Imperial Star Destroyer 2.

A new version has now been updated to the downloads page, which if you install it then it will correct the problem.
Sorry for any inconvenience.

Hello,
Thank you for the bug report.
The issue was related to a new feature (skirmish ini settings) added in the mission tie hook. There was a missing line in the engine sound hook. The result was that the ini setting was reloaded everytime a sound hook was called.
I've updated the engine sound hook. The issue should be fixed.

Many thanks to @LPhoenix who has created a fix for a bugged mission.

In this mission for some reason the IRD fighters flew a long way out and back.

Greetings and Congratulations to Ace and all of the Team!!!!!

It is wonderful to see the Project alive and well and flourishing so! I am excited to see the new patch in action. I have been active in helping preserve assets and work on various restoration projects for a number of the Lucas Arts SW Games over the decades, starting back in the early 2000s tho life had dragged me away from time to time and i have been active in modding and now creating new content for other sims and games. My love of the classic and never replaced SW games, the X Wing Series, including the early TIE Fighter update, the two Knights of the Old Academy games, Dark Forces and mods for it (happy to see that a new version is underway) and additional maps for SW Outcast and Academy..it seems like a lifetime ago and another world when we were working to save or restore and preserve the old forums for all of this. All along you guys kept going and one point I had hopes to help here with some model work and re skinning but life denied that along with some medical challenges. But I have always loved these games and the original vision that they all contained. I hope to rejoin over time but need to get some of my long quiet skills with the joy stick and other things, as well as re install my games and mods. i have kept original games and mods for most of the titles and may in time try to set up a clearing house and online resource of much of the now rare mods and maps. For now thank you all Achilllies and crew for this wonderful work,. all the best

I last commmunicated with Forceflow in 2015 and my friends list at that time was:
Darksaber
Fader
Fek'LeyrTarg
waylon

not sure if all or any are still here but i am so very grateful for all of the long effort and work on this all. Good to see the Force is still Strong in some corners of the universe. :)

by the way some folks worked to save some of the content of the old Lucas Arts Game forums using the Wayback machine and they actually managed to save quite a bit of content of the forums, discusssions and technical help. It maybe useful for researching issues that may pop up, sadly the forums of Lucas Arts were for a while saved but not sure what happend to them.
here is the link
https://www.lucasforumsarchive.com/

if you were a poster or user on that old forum, they managed to save all of the posts by all of the users. I found all of my posts from years of posting and sharing were saved and it may help me in my work to reconnect with mods, levels, and projects i was working on back then. a Remarkable resource of modern tech.

Sadly these members aren’t around anymore, for one reason or another. But the current main team of Ace Antilles, Forceflow, VinceT, DTM, BlueMax, JeremyaFr, M0rgg, ual002 and Blazing Firestorm are doing such an amazing job of updating and adding new features to XWAU that as a mod it’s on a completely different level than 9 years ago.

Yeah, it's been a while and sadly many of the team and others from the community have left. From the founding team no-one is active anymore, Saxman dropped by silently from time to time, but I think he hasn't logged into the forum in a long time as well. (I believe he was the last online founding member, though he hasn't been an active participant in a long time)
But the current team is doing an absolutely amazing job. The newest features that are being added by JeremyaFr and blue_max are simply mind blowing and the new models being worked on are absolutely incredible. Not to mention all the other things being done to make everything more consistent, stable and easier to work with.
Stay tuned for the next patch, no promises on a release date, but big things are coming ;)

when i try to run xwau2020.exe on windows 11, it asks administrator permission and then does nothing.
Is there something i can try to fix this?

You should really be using the XWAU 2024 installation now for Windows 11.
Plus you probably need to put the install file in a different location.
