With XWAU 2024 we released a new system relating to Hyperspace behaviour.
It's included in XWAU but turned off by default as it needs a lot of testing.
What this Hyperspace Effect does is alter the speed, and how ships appear out of Hyperspace in a region.
For example rather than jumping in and then coming to a slow halt from a long way away, the ship appears instantly in the same spot.
The idea of this is to give more of a film like effect to the game.
While it's a very cool effect we don't know how many, if any, issues this may cause the campaign?
You won't have much in the way of advance warning anymore for example.
We've also had some "rubber banding" looks going on. When a ship appears and then bounces back a little to where it should be.
So we need YOU Top Ace Pilots to help us!
It would be great if people can turn this feature on and give it a go in missions and even Skirmish mode.
Then please report back if you find any particular issues in a mission or with some ships.
You can enable this option from Babu Frik's Configurator.
Select Hyperspace Effect and turn it on.
Hopefully you will find little bugs but we appreciate your feedback anyway.
Also it would be good to know if you think this should be enabled by default or not?
Now get to your fighters! Happy flying!

I'll have to look at that, thanks for checking.
But you misunderstood what I was asking.
It's not so much about player craft more everything else.
It's checking other ships coming out of hyperspace perform properly and arrive where they should. Without causing game play issues.
But checking player ships is a good thing too.
Thanks for the feedback

This one was interesting, you can see (2) Xwing engine trails through the Hyperspace-field. Actually, I thought it looked awesome...
Now I could be wrong... but I didn't see any rubber-band effect coming out of Hyperspace with the fighters. Maybe someone else if they test might come up with something but I didn't come across it.

I think that the Disney way of exiting hyperspace by just magically popping up out of nowhere and being completely static and unmoving is completely 100% contradicted by the Original Trilogy, which shows a ships coming out at a distance and moving forward.

This change is not OT.

the post-Disney films/shows also show momentum when leaving hyperspace. There's no complete stops, except maybe in the big fleet at the end of EP9, hard to tell.
This montage shows every hyperspace jump and exit, from every movie released so far.

I see. Looks like craft maintain the same sublight speed prior and immediately after the hyperspace jump. Good observation. The rubber-band effect might be easier to see with AI starships exiting hyperspace into the player's region.

A bit late, just wanted to say I like the concept!
