Greetings Pilots. Settle down the briefing is about to start.

Since 2025 launch and before we've had an issue where the mission message text displayed is not in sync with audio messages being played.

Thanks to @JeremyaFr we believe this is now fixed! :gott:
To get the fix please can you update your in game Hooks to the newest ones, so follow these instructions below.

Click on the Alliance launcher as you would run the game.
Select the Tools Menu
Then click on XWA Hooks Updater
This will automatically download the most recent hook fixes and then close.

We hope that has fixed the issues but let us know if you see other things turn up.
The bugs for 2025 have been pretty minor thankfully.
The team have already been coming up with wild, totally unnecessary :lachtot:, but amazing ideas to improve the game! :D
So there is always more to come in XWAU. Thanks for listening, now get to your fighters!

Oh my... it's beautiful! You guys never cease to amaze. I have the tiniest bug, I've noticed the progress bar as missions load is roughly 1 pixel higher than the start and end images. If you never fix this I will never care as what you do continues to blow my mind. The fix to the launch loading time and the new cinematics alone mean a full playthrough is in order. Thanks team!
Can you post a small screenshot showing what you mean please? I can't quite see the issue.
Also what resolution is your monitor screen and the in game setting you use.

If we get to the point our only bug is that there is a 1 pixel height issue, :motz: Then I think we can all retire happy! :lachtot:
I've attached a screenshot with the affected areas indicated.

That's how it's supposed to look. In the original it was more rounded though.
Maybe that can be improved in the future.

No, there is an error there, the bar in the middle is slightly off. Unfortunately due to the way the position is calculated it's not possible to get a pixel perfect position for all resolutions. @Jocasta what resolution are you using?

This latest addition of the XWAU is so impressive. I'm playing through the game again and wow. The EC Henry Nebulon-B is an especially great move!

Has anyone else seen laginess in the concourse and menus? I'm not having lag problems in game.

I'm not getting any lag in the game or concourse so far. Runs great except for the landing in the hangar. It freezes but I can hit spacebar to get to debriefing.

1920x1080. If the issue isn't affecting anyone else, I'm happy to provide any additional details I can. I am pretty confident I've noticed it at other resolutions, and on my other much older computer. If it means anything, both use AMD graphics cards.

XWAU 2025 is incredible! My deepest compliments to everyone who poured their heart into this project. I can honestly say—it’s no small feat to take a game that’s over 25 years old and breathe new life into it like this. Especially in these past few years, the leaps forward have been nothing short of extraordinary.

I’m writing here, in this public chat, to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the beautiful dedication. I promise you—I will return. It’s not easy right now, because I need to find the strength I’ve lost. But I will, because I want to dedicate all of my work to someone who, for so many years, created true wonders. I’ll get back on my feet—for her!
It's great to see you back here. You'll always be part of the XWAU and the door will always be open. Take whatever time you need, we'll be waiting!

There seems to be a crash bug associated with loading the second training mission on the Defiance. This is a mission where you test your skills in an X-Wing. I have tried loading it multiple times, but it crashes on the loading screen.

There should be.a crashdump file (ending is .dmp) in your games directory. They are usually around 200MB or so big. Could you upload that somewhere like Google drive or another service and share it?

Greetings Pilots.

Just to say there's a known issue found in the game.
The Andrasta (Slave 1) will be upside down when it has landed in the hangar bay.
It's fine in missions and in Skirmish mode though.
So it's an unsightly look but not game breaking.

You can download the fixed Opt from the XWAU 2025: Known Issues post if you wish.

That plus the XWA.tab file. There will be some errors as even the official released ones weren't perfect.
The number of errors I found was truly extensive, of course, mostly simple typos.

Words like "perchè", "poichè", "finchè", etc. with the letter "è" instead of the letter "é".

I left E' instead of replacing it with È (Alt+212), I don't know if this character is recognized by the original system or displayed as a graphic glith during the game.

I found the unit of measurement "klic" written as "klick" or "click", but it should be misspelled that way.

I also found a joke, but I didn't understand it, so I don't know if the spelling was intentionally written that way or if it's a conceptual adaptation.

Okay, the translation was literal, so in italian Angrallian and Toobir should be reversed since Toobir is the creature's name and Angrallian is its origin.
Doing some research, I found:
  • The Angrallians were light-skinned humanoids with gray fur, orange eyes, and wolf-like ears.
  • The Angrallian Toobir is a non-sentient species from their home planet.
Is their system located at K6 coordinates, near Mygeeto and Muunilinst? There's nothing on my map... maybe my map doesn't have the correct grid and it doesn't even have all the planets in the expanded universe (no, Disney stuff isn't canon for me!).
... but is it supposed to be fun?
Now I understand why this is the only email they send...

I just checked in on this, and there's a whole lot to read. So without hassling me for not having yet had time to read it all, do we need to uninstall our existing XWAU and revert to the vanilla game prior to running this new installer?

OK, that will be from Good Old Games rather than Steam, will that be a problem? I can't imagine it will, since the Steam version of XWA has always been problematic, but I want to make sure.

GoG is usually the preferred way to get these older games. You shouldn't have an issue.

The XWA.TAB file contained in the XWAU2025_AddOn-C3PO_1.0.0 archive is different from the one in versions 2.02; 1265 lines of text are missing.
Trying to look at the beginning, I find this:

Version 2.02:

Code: Select all

1Yard_F10_1	nei guai
1Yard_F11_1	0.6 0.3 0.3
1Yard_F11_3	0.6
1Yard_F11_4	1.0
1Yard_F12_1	1.0 0.9 0.9
1Yard_F12_3	1.0
1Yard_F12_4	1.0
1Yard_F13_1	Oggetti cantiere
From archive:

Code: Select all

1Yard_F10_1	nei guai
1YARD_F21_1	Oggetti cantiere

going towards the end I notice that this line is missing:

Code: Select all

KLASTFILMOPTIONSTRINGS	GARBAGE STRING PLACEHOLDER
At this point I remembered certain strings while correcting typos and went looking for them starting from the bottom and noticed that they had removed a lot of strings!
mainly strings like this:

Code: Select all

1B4M3FB_F42_1	1.0 1.0 1.0
1B4M3FB_F42_3	0.5
1B4M3FB_F42_4	0.3
1B4M3FB_F43_1	1.0 1.0 1.0
1B4M3FB_F43_3	0.0
1B4M3FB_F43_4	1.0

Then whole really large sections were removed, Too long to put here without creating an endless post.

Hi @Andreab1987,

The lines you are pointing in the Xwa.tab are "translations" for items corresponding to the backdrops (aka planets, suns, galaxies in the background). The numbers are the name and the color of the object. They are considered as a "normal" flight group (like any craft) in the mission files but are not meant to be translated. They probably exist in the default game because it was an extract from the missions files but it was not cleaned.

I also checked with the Xwa.tab from GOG and it also include all SPECIES_* entries that are used in the simulator. They indeed disappeared from the XWAUP version. I am in the process of reviewing those items, so with some luck they could be added again at some point.

Rest of the file is OK.

Well, yes, I assumed the file was fine.

My fault, I didn't write the entire post:
Where does this file come from? Is it the GOG version?

But from your reply, it's clear it's not even from GOG, so it's a version cleaned up of unnecessary/unused code by the same people who are creating the MOD?

I had time today to get this up and running. Great performance on Ultra settings, which is a huge surprise. This is probably not the correct place to report this, but I'm having an issue with weapon recharge settings and shield recharge settings toggling way too fast, and IIRC I had the same issue with the previous version, but I can't remember the fix.
Also, I really appreciate you adding the Royal Guard Interceptor to the craft manager, I've really missed that ship. I found the red skins for it, and I've read the PDF file alluded to in the readme file for those skins, but I can't make heads or tails of it. I remember it took lots of trial and error to get the old RGI to work in Skirmish Mode years ago, looks like I'm still none the wiser.
