I encountered an issue with Super Star Destroyer in battle7 mission1 & 2.
Entire SSD mesh is culled(invisible) If I fly too close near ship surface and look away from it. This even allow me to fly through inside SSD.
I suspect this SSD model have wrong bounding box size for frustum culling operation (if XWA alliance engine have one).
But I don't see any update for SSD in patch 5.6 and I never noticed this bug prior to 5.6 so may be this issue caused by new d3d implementation.
Finally, this may be just my imagination but I feel navigating concourse menu is much slower (mouse move slow and jumpy, animation play slower) then before, like sub 10fps now.
Thanks for update and happy may the force.

The issue has been a bane of this community for many years and is linked to high resolutions. Large models (10km and beyond) may disappear when up close and looking away from their center.
While things have improved, there has been no ready fix for this, I'm afraid.

Thanks to all involved for the rapid fix.
The new explosions look fantastic, I hope the hit effects get a similar upgrade. Perhaps the new effects should get a page in the showcase? I wonder if there is a way to remove the inertia from them? It always looked funny when the turbolaser explosions flew off into space.

No changes to the concourse as yet. Wouldn't say anyone has seen any noticeable differences.Bailknight wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2023 8:22 pmFinally, this may be just my imagination but I feel navigating concourse menu is much slower (mouse move slow and jumpy, animation play slower) then before, like sub 10fps now.

If you have Ray Tracing on it should affect in flight and Tech Room but that's all.

It's hard to showcase stuff like the effects. I only had some explosion pics and videos because @MechDonald took them

Wow, simply amazing work you guys. I remember emailing Ace Antilles must have been 20 years ago now after beating x-wing alliance for umpteenth time and wanting more from this great game.
He pointed me here back when it was a 4 pack rebel starfighter upgrade with lasers and warheads. And I can't believe I come here every few months and see more and more growth from these same group of builders, with such passion that they're willing to devote their time and skill to create this for those of us who cannot.
Thank you so so so much for all your work. I've gotten so much joy from it. You've fulfilled the hope of what this project could become.

You can see them from 0:04 to 0:06 in the video as the Tie Interceptor is strafed. They aren't bad effects on their own, but when the Tie Interceptor finally explodes, the final explosion is a lot more detailed and strangely smaller than an individual laser hits which also makes it look like it has a higher resolution.Ace Antilles wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2023 2:16 amWhich are the hit effects do you mean?

Thanks guys.
Quick tip for you all:
The XWAU backup folder can easily get large and take up space.
If you Zip, Rar, compress, the latest backup inside it then you can take a folder of 1gb and make it 200mb or less!
That way you can keep a backup if needed but still save on space.

Hi.
Luckily, I found what cause both of my issues (concourse slowdown lag and SSD disappear).
For concourse slowdown, what cause issue was my nvidia driver's framerate limiter setting. I was set framelimit for 60 on my 120hz monitor for some performance reason and that cause run concourse likely half-frame. After I exclude xwingalliance.exe from that driver rule concourse run back just fine again.
About SSD culling from view issue, it only happens when I configure in-flight resolution beyond 1920x1080 ( like 1440p of 4k). At first, I was using auto-resolution (I have native 4k monitor) and had issue then I tried 1080p for some performance testing and issue was gone. This happens more severe if resolution is higher.

Also, I don't know this is bug or just limitation of how hooks works but actual flight resolution never changes whatever I set in hooks.ini or Babu Frik's configurator and always stay fixed as desktop resolution and only HUD scale is changed.
Thanks for your hard works!

Yes that is how this works, you can only really adjust the HUD settings with that but not the in-game resolution. Unfortunately that will always use whatever windows resolution you have set.Bailknight wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 8:09 amAlso, I don't know this is bug or just limitation of how hooks works but actual flight resolution never changes whatever I set in hooks.ini or Babu Frik's configurator and always stay fixed as desktop resolution and only HUD scale is changed.
