XWAU 2024: Bug Fix 1

Attention Pilots! This is a very small Bug Fix patch to address important issues that have arisen since the XWAU 2024 launch.
More updates or larger file size fixes will come in the future. This also will include a reissue of the 2024 installer to fix a small issue with Steam installations.

We thank you for all your support of the XWAU 2024 release! It was a lot of work and years in the making.
There were so many things being juggled and new stuff being developed that it was constantly progressing. So apologies for some bugs popping up.

COMING NEXT
So even after 25 years we still can't put the game down.
Sorry for the quiet spell recently but the team have been taking a much needed rest and focusing fun elsewhere.
We still have stuff to come in the future. Including some more fixes and improvements. For example new or improved skins for use in campaigns or custom missions.
Plus NEW models are in progress such as the long awaited Golan Stations!
There is no ETA for release yet so just watch this space as always.


Here are the details of what’s in this release:

INSTALLATION

Please backup any Pilot saves, custom configuration files or changes that you have custom edited before using this Update. We are not responsible for lost game progress.

!! THIS UPDATE IS NOT COMPATIBLE TO USE WITH THE TIE FIGHTER TOTAL CONVERSION !!

This patch is designed for a “standard” unmodified installation of XWAU 2024.
Do not attempt to install over any older version of the XWAU 2020 Mega Patch OR the TF Total Conversion

Extract all files in the zip and run the XWAU2024_Bugfix1.exe setup file and follow the on-screen options.
Please don't run the XWAU installer program from the same folder as XWA is already in.


BUG FIX CHANGES

Ddraw: The latest Beta release from Blue Max with bug fixes and many extra VR improvements.
Please see the readme file for complete details here: Readme\Special Effects\Special Effects Readme.docx

Latest Ddraws from JeremyaFr and Blue Max are now renamed to Golden: Ddraw_golden.dll and Effects: Ddraw_effects.dll.
These can now be switched between by modifying DDrawType.cfg. It is still best to use Babu Frik’s Configurator to convert back and forth as there maybe other file changes needed.


Effects: Dat animation file fix for the Factory illumination.

New DefaultStarfield.dds to fix "black pepper" noise for certain missions.


Frontxt: Fixed description of Ion Cannons.


FlightModels: CrewCabinBack textures fix.

A-Wing and B-Wing holograms have been moved. They can be altered by using the ALT+Arrow keys.

Casino: Model fixed to say Dunari's Nest instead of "Rest.

Imperial Landing Craft ini fix.

Mini Falcon ini fix.

Added TugA ini.

Y-wing Hud cockpit bug fixed via the Ddraw update.

Z-95 ini Skirmish fix.


Materials: Sadly some light Animations were disabled due to an issue with the Material and Effects Ddraw files. They are fixed now.
Massive apologies to Vince T for this error getting into the 2024 release.

Fixed: Casino, Factory, ImpResearchCenter, Platforms 1-6, Shuttle, SpaceColony 1 and 3.


Missions: Minor bug fixes for some missions.
Battle 4: Mission 1: Changed Order 1 in Region 2. Z coordinate of Waypoint 1 of CNVYR Lara from 0 to 0.5
Battle 5: Mission 2: Utility Tug A replaces normal Tugs. Henlon Station is now on the Empire team.

Crew Quarters: Swapped player Emails 79 and 80 around to match the campaign order.
Moved the mission that the Casino chip is awarded to Ace to avoid campaign spoilers.


Resdata: Battle images fixes for wrong images.

Frontplanet HD images added. These are slightly higher quality images of the Planets in the windows.
They can now only be seen after the campaign has ended. Animations play during the campaign instead.

Skirmish Ship images and position fixes.
Configurator: Dat image positions fix for Skirmish Ship image of TIE Interceptor and Z-95 profiles.

HUD reticule minor position fixes.


Configurators: Craft Manager fix for swapping Z-95 engines and Skirmish.
Configurators installation files updated.


Sound: A-wing Engine sound fix.
New YT-1300 Cannon sound for normal and Turbo.
Map open and close sounds fixed.
Target Select sound fixed.


Hooks: Updated almost all DLL Hooks with recompiled versions, using a dynamic runtime instead of static, to significantly reduce chances of Anti-Virus software flagging them as false positives.

The latest Hooks from JeremyaFr are included in this release with many bug fixes and extra options.

Many fixes in particular weapons and shields rates and problems detected.

It seems there may still be an issue with the Z-95 flying off in a straight line.
We thought we had fixed this but for some reason it doesn't seem to be working on the XWAU 2024 release.

There isn't a simple 1 file fix for this. So for the moment it will have to wait until the next major release with many other little fixes we have to do.
For advanced XWA modders that know how to use XWA SHP Installer or Mxvted, using this SHP file this should fix the issue too.

The XWAU team are a little quiet of late. We are basically taking time to enjoy a break and our own projects for the moment.
I've been tinkering on many minor improvements to the Rebel fighters of the A,X,Y-wings for the next update.
Thanks for everyone's support, we are still dedicated to fixing up this fossil of a game for as long as possible ;) :D
